Paul Weller
September 7th, Kings Theater Brooklyn
The Modfather hit’s NYC this autumn as part of his first US Tour in seven years.
The dates are off the back of his new album (released May 24th). This is his 17th solo album and 28th album overall, including The Jam and The Style Council.
The album includes contributions from Noel Gallagher, Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie, Suggs, Richard Hawley and Dr Robert, . The beautiful retro album artwork is by Sir Peter Blake, who also did Weller’s classic 1995 album Stanley Road.
The first single from 66 is “Soul Wandering,” which was co-written with Gillespie and is the kind of soulful, sophisticated rock we’ve come to expect from Weller.
The “reflective and inward thinking album” comes as Weller turn 66 this year. Speaking of the making of his last album Paul said, “I just enjoy making records. I like the challenge every time of what’s possible and what we can do and where can it go — that’s inspiration in itself. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do, from the time I was 8 or 9. I just wanted to play music and be in a band. I was very arrogant and ignorant as a youth. I just appreciate it a lot more.”
It’ll be a cracking gig, a highlight of the year for any Brit music-lover, and tickets are selling fast so pull yer finger out.
